THE 5TH ANNUAL MISSISSIPPI GOURD FESTIVAL

The 5th Annual Mississippi Gourd Festival was held on September 20-21, 2014, at the Smith County Ag Complex, 131 Smith County Road 77 (Oil Field Rd.), Raleigh, MS. We had early-bird classes on Friday, in addition to the classes on Saturday and Sunday.  Watch for more info and photos.

Message from our 2014 Show Chair and new Mississippi Gourd Society President, Paul Grubbs:

Hello  to all MSGS members.  If you were lucky enough to have attended our 5th Annual Mississippi Gourd Festival, then you know how much fun it was.  If you were unfortunate and didn’t get to attend, then you missed out.  We had a great group of teachers and vendors, and everyone seemed to enjoy the whole weekend.  A lot of hard work went into putting this event on, and that’s what is so good about our members and volunteers.  Everyone (as always) wants to help everyone.  Our numbers are still coming in and we can, without a doubt, say the Festival was a success.  There are many facets to compile and, at some point in the near future, we will have totals from every one of them.  We had our annual meeting after our delicious Saturday evening meal.  Our treasurer, Martha Ertle, gave our treasurer’s report, we elected new officers, and conducted miscellaneous business.  We will soon start planning our 6th Annual Festival and would like to encourage any and all of you to come get involved.  We have an extremely close group that plans and volunteers to put our event on.  We would be glad to include you, too.  As time goes by, I will send more emails to keep you informed.  Thank you.
Paul Grubbs, 2014 Show Chair and MSGS President
